Decreasing Your Odds of Experiencing an Implant Rupture

Published on April 12, 2018

Implant ruptures can occur for a variety of reasons. In some cases, complications like capsular contracture can lead to an implant rupture. Other times, the issue is simply the result of wear and tear. Sometimes the cause of the rupture cannot be found.

The type of implant you choose is also an important factor. Saline-filled implants are more prone to rupturing than silicone implants.

Patients who receive cohesive implants made from silicone gel have an even smaller chance of experiencing a rupture. This is because the silicone gel retains its shape even if the outer shell has been damaged.

At Moelleken Plastic Surgery, we offer Allergan /Inamed 410 Style cohesive silicone breast implants.
